The solution with recycling product could be solved at the source: companies shouldn't deliver their products in non-recyclable packaging. Even better if they make it reusable. Or even better-better if they can deliver the goods with no package whatsoever (I know, this is unlikely), but still...
The companies introducing in the world tons and tons of plastic should be held accountable and reduce the amount of useless materials; that would be much more effective than blaming the final users that find themselves having to dispose something shouldn't have existed in the first place.

LOL - yeah for real. the UX for recycling those "at special drop off point items" has way tooo much friction!
