I’m aware this isn’t a funny strip, but it’s a brain fart that bounces around my head a lot. The balance of power between Science and Art in technology seems extremely tipped towards the former at the moment and it troubles me mightily. :-(
A philosophical post every now and then is great. A good pace-maker for the lols! This also really resonates with me right now, and feels spookily in line with thoughts I've been having about the act of design. Essentially, the very broad design process of 1. Discovery (observation, definition and understanding), 2. Ideation (problem-solving, applying knowledge to create functional solutions), and 3. Delivery (release, connect, express, review and refine) are effectively 1. Science, 2. Engineering (and Technology), 3. Art. In my 'theory', this positions design as the critical process of bringing ideas and action to life. Or, put more succinctly and poetically, as per your comic 😅. Basically, I think you're right. The process needs to be equal and balanced.
Hope this pop-philosophy comment doesn't make you regret sharing your own brain fart!
